College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
The Trojans took on non-conference rival Notre Dame in a Los Angeles downpour on Saturday, starting slowly before running away with an 18-point victory. Ronald Jones II rushed for 134 yards and a score, while Sam Darnold threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Southern Cal finished with the same number of first downs and just four more yards of offense than the Fighting Irish. Adoree Jackson made the difference for the Trojans — racking up a 55-yard punt return TD, a 97-yard kickoff return TD, a 52-yard TD reception, and finishing with 287 all-purpose yards along with two tackles and two passes defensed.
USC won’t make the Pac-12 championship game out of the South after Colorado knocked off Utah on Saturday night in prime time, but the Trojans have nevertheless set themselves up for a 10-win season if they win in their bowl game. They have solidified their position in the top dozen of the AP Top 25, though, and might have managed to make a case for a New Year’s Six bowl game after closing out the regular season with eight straight wins.
