College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Oklahoma State sat out Thanksgiving weekend, enjoying a long weekend of rest while watching everyone else in the AP Top 25 and College Football Playoff rankings square off in rivalry games. For the second straight season, Oklahoma State has a shot at the Big 12 title when they take on rival Oklahoma in the Bedlam game. Thanks to the fact that the Cowboys and Sooners have emerged as the top two teams in the conference for the second straight season, the Big 12 gets a de facto title game yet again despite having just ten teams.
Once again Oklahoma State is likely to be an underdog when they head to Norman to play their rivals. But if the Cowboys win on the road next weekend, the College Football Playoff committee might be more inclined to bump the Pokes up into the semifinals as a 10-2 Big 12 champion. For better or worse the committee seems inclined to downplay the impact of Oklahoma State’s loss to Central Michigan in September, which could be a boon for the school and the conference as a whole if Mike Gundy’s team prevails in their regular-season finale.
