Colorado secured a spot in the Pac-12 championship game by holding on for a five-point victory over Utah on Saturday night. The Buffaloes didn’t get the best game offensively, as Sefo Liufau’s receivers dropped several passes that could have broken the game wide open. But they managed to force four turnovers on defense, stamping out and preventing points on several long Utah drives, to lock up the Pac-12 South and maintain their top-ten position in the AP Top 25.

They should also manage to hold on to a top-ten spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. Mike McIntyre’s team could be in position to play in one of the semifinal games if they manage to upset the Huskies in Santa Clara, and even if they lose as expected the consolation prize will be a spot in the Rose Bowl or another New Year’s Six game. No team has been more impressive in its turnaround than Colorado this season.
