College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Oklahoma got to take Thanksgiving weekend off, sitting back and watching the carnage all around them in the AP Top 25 and the College Football Playoff rankings. For the second straight season, everything now hinges on the Bedlam game. The Big 12 gets a de facto conference championship game yet again, despite having just ten teams, thanks to the fact that the Sooners and rival Oklahoma State have once again emerged as the top two teams in the conference.
Whether the Sooners can creep up into the College Football Playoff for a second straight season is another question. Bob Stoops’ team would certainly be an intriguing two-loss team to take under consideration, but after both Houston and Ohio State failed to win their respective divisions it could be harder to make the case for Oklahoma. The relative weakness of their defense compared to other playoff contenders could also end up dooming them to a non-playoff New Year’s Six bowl.
