The Owls had to play on the road for the AAC championship game, but it didn’t faze them in the least as they rolled Navy 34-10 in Annapolis on Saturday. Against the Midshipmen’s ground-based offense, Temple actually had more rushing yards than the Middies as they built a 24-3 lead by halftime. It was a balanced effort, as Phillip Walker threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns and the running backs combined for 189 yards and two more scores.

With Western Michigan’s win on Friday night, the AAC winner was unlikely to enter the picture for the Group of Five’s automatic bid into the Cotton Bowl. But after opening the season 3-3 with losses to Army, Penn State, and Memphis, the Owls have now won seven straight and reached 10 wins for the second straight season. Even without the New Year’s Six invite, Temple could still get the chance to play another Power Five school this bowl season.
