Sun Bowl (December 30): North Carolina QB Mitch Trubisky

Remember when Mitch Trubisky was being thrown around as a possible Heisman candidate? Yeah, that kind of talk looks foolish now, but he’s still a legit candidate to be drafted early in the upcoming NFL Draft. He’s an elite college quarterback that racked up 3,468 yards passing while posting a QB Rating of 161.0 this season (a dip from last season when it was 226.4 in limited playing time).

Some of North Carolina’s biggest losses this season were when Trubisky failed to connect with his receivers. Early this season, North Carolina lost to Georgia when he was held to 156 passing yards and Virginia Tech when he was held to 58 yards. Yes, you read that right: 58 yards on 33 attempts. If North Carolina wants to win this Bowl Game, they need a massive game from Trubisky.

Listening to him this season during Trubisky’s press conferences it’s clear that he’s passionate about Tar Heel football; the kid wants to end his college career with a win.
