5. QB Luke Falk, Washington State

Quarterback Luke Falk led the Washington State Cougars to an 8-5 record in 2016, showing there’s still work to do in Pac-12 play. Falk led the conference in passing yards (4,468) and passing completion percentage (70.0). But he was also second in the Pac-12 in interceptions, throwing 11 this past season. With arm strength and accuracy being an issue, Falk will return for his senior year to adjust things.

Washington State started the season 0-2 before getting in the win column last season. Falk threw 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions in the Cougars losses this past year, a stat he’ll look to improve upon in 2017. One opponent who gave him hell was the Washington Huskies. Against the Huskies high-ranked defense, he threw three interceptions in a 45-17 loss.

The Cougars lost their last three games of the season after reeling off eight straight wins entering Week 11. Falk certainly has to be looking towards next season, hoping to put up much better numbers. Not to mention, one of Falk’s top offensive guards, Cody O’Connell, returns next season as well.

At 7-2 in Pac-12 play, the Cougars were one win away from a spot in the Conference Championship game. That conference game against Washington next season will hold extra meaning going forward. With Montana State, Boise State and Nevada on the non-conference slate next season, all eyes will be on Falk early in 2017. Look for him to have a big senior campaign for Washington State or bust in the Pac-12.
