There are plenty of college football players who helped their NFL draft stock this season. However, there were also a number of guys who saw their stock slip, either due to injury or performance.

One of those players who has slipped down draft boards this season is Tennessee Volunteers cornerback Cameron Sutton. After deciding to return for his senior season, Sutton suffered a fractured ankle that forced him to miss essentially have of the 2016 season.

Sutton comes into the Senior Bowl weighing in at 5-foot-11 and 182 pounds. He’s not the biggest cornerback in a class that’s loaded with them, but his level of play on the field is what helped him stand out over his college career. During his time with the Volunteers, Sutton proved to be an aggressive corner in man coverage while showcasing some good recovery speed when burned.

The problem with Sutton is that he gets burned more often than scouts would like to see. He has a lot of the physical traits that an NFL corner needs, but the technique is something that he needs to continue to work on.

On Tuesday, Sutton was reportedly working out as a safety, and that may be where NFL teams want to move him at the next level given his skill set. It’ll be something worth keeping an eye on, but above all else, Sutton needs to have a good week of practice if he’s going to get back into the discussion as one of the best defensive backs in this class.
