The Broncos missed out on playing in the Mountain West championship game in 2016 for the third time in four years. Bryan Harsin pulled off a coup on National Signing Day, landing the signature of four-star cornerback Jermani Brown over seven different Power Five schools that offered a scholarship. He was the centerpiece of a 2017 recruiting effort that brought in another 16 three-star players to bolster Boise State’s bid to return to MWC primacy.
Besides Brown, Boise State picked up six other defensive backs. The defense will also benefit from the addition of players like inside linebackers Ezekiel Noa and Breydon Boyd and defensive end Aisa Kelemete. The receiving corps also received a strong jolt, with Harsin’s crew picking up Texas prep stars Octavius Evans and Cartrell Thomas. The Broncos also bulked up the offensive line with junior college players, landing guard Isiah Moore and tackle Zach Troughton. Recruits from seven different states signed up to play on the Smurf Turf.
