6. DE DeMarcus Walker, Florida State

Defensive end DeMarcus Walker had a memorable 2016 season despite the Florida State Seminoles’ record. He’ll be another defensive player to watch in the NFL Combine.

Walker was the ACC Defensive Player of the Year this past season, racking up 67 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Despite an early injury to safety Derwin James in Week 2, Walker didn’t miss a beat. He recorded six tackles, 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble in the team’s season opening 45-34 victory over Ole Miss.

Walker turned up his level of play in the Seminoles’ final five games of the season. He racked up 26 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks as the team finished 2016 with a 5-0 record. A lot of it had to do with the play off the edge from Walker. In the NFL, he can do much of the same.

He’s got size and speed off the edge, two things that makes scouts take notice right away. While at Florida State, Walker earned 27 total sacks which put him at third-all time in the ACC. With varying opinions on his success at the next level, Walker will look to impress at the NFL Combine.
