2017 NFL Combine: 10 Players to watch from the ACC
4. QB Mitch Trubisky, North Carolina
North Carolina Mitch Trubisky had a pretty good season in his first year as starter, enough so he’s ready to go to the NFL. Trubisky led the Tar Heels to an 8-5 record in 2016. With their fair share of weaknesses, everything wasn’t the quarterback’s fault.
Trubisky threw for 3,748 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and six interceptions through 13 games last season. He didn’t throw an interception until the team’s fifth game of the season in 2016.
He is an accurate passer who doesn’t turn the ball over often. His six interceptions came in three games total; he threw two in each game. He was first in the ACC in pass completion percentage (68.0) and second in passer efficiency rating (157.9).
Trubisky has taken a lot of criticism for his performances but he’s shown great awareness in the pocket, making plays in key moments. After all, there’s a reason he was second in the ACC in passing touchdowns in 2016. He’ll have an opportunity this week to continue to raise his draft stock before the NFL Draft in April.
