Josh Rosen was supposed to be UCLA’s savior when he was first recruited by Jim Mora. As a freshman he certainly showed plenty of promise to go along with the growing pains. Yet last year an injury sidelined him for the latter part of the season, and UCLA subsequently tumbled out of bowl eligibility. With Rosen entering his junior season, this could be the last chance for Mora to capitalize on his quarterback’s obvious talent and return the Bruins to Pac-12 contention.

Rosen remains a somewhat raw prospect at the position despite a year and a half of college starts. His 138.9 QB efficiency rating from 2016 would have placed him 45th nationally over a full season, and that was only a marginal improvement on his freshman numbers. With questions still at running back, Mora will lean heavily on Rosen this year. How well the returning junior steps up to the challenge will determine how far UCLA manages to go in 2017.
