Top 10 college football quarterbacks most likely to win 2017 Heisman
Deondre Francois enters his redshirt sophomore campaign with enormous expectations on his shoulders. FSU has expectations ranging from ACC favorite to being able to win the College Football Playoff this season. Francois passed for more than 3,300 yards last season with 25 total touchdowns.
The Noles do have the tall task of replacing players like receiver Travis Rudolph and All-American running back Dalvin Cook. However, freshman running back Cam Akers looks to at least somewhat fill the big shoes that Cook left in the FSU offense.
Some of those losses will have to be replaced by the progression of Francois. He had an impressive freshman campaign, leading FSU to another 10-win season and a bowl victory over the Michigan Wolverines. However, he’ll need to do better than 20 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2017.
Francois has the opportunity to be the second FSU quarterback in the last five years to win the Heisman Trophy. Jameis Winston won the Heisman in 2013 after leading the Noles to a BCS Title. Head coach Jimbo Fisher might be expecting some of the same out of Francois this season with one full season as a starter under his belt. Francois is also currently considered to be one of the Heisman favorites on most odds lists that you can find right now.
