The praise for Ole Miss’s Shea Patterson is high. According to SEC Country, Patterson received comparisons to NFL legend Peyton Manning last year. However, that type of comparison really gets ahead of where Patterson is in the process of becoming a star in the SEC. With the Ole Miss football program in such turmoil right now, Patterson’s immediate future is not certain.

Patterson has only played in three career games, posting impressive numbers at the end of those three stars. He threw for 880 yards and six touchdowns with three interceptions while also leading Ole Miss to a huge victory over the Texas A&M Aggies.

The mix of potential and turmoil with the Ole Miss football program right now is the biggest road block to Patterson’s success. According to one attorney, Ole Miss is as close as you can get to the death penalty right now in the midst of their huge NCAA investigation. That’s not a promising sign for the former five-star recruit out of IMG Academy.
