Being the best quarterback in college football does not always translate to becoming to the best one in the NFL. That statement directly applies to Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield who currently projects as a third to fifth round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, he does have the opportunity to lead Oklahoma to the College Football Playoff for the second time in his college career this season.

Mayfield does not possess the size or decision making ability that most NFL teams are looking for. However, quite a few NFL quarterbacks such as Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks and Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints proved that size does not always matter.

Very few quarterbacks have the pedigree that Mayfield has built for himself during his time in Norman. Another productive season might change the conversation for Mayfield in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Even former Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes became a first round pick when no one though that he would. The unquestioned leadership ability, “it factor”, scrambling ability, and arm strength that Mayfield showcases are just a few of the reasons why an NFL team will take a chance on him.
