Chad Kelly was one of the two great quarterbacks that Freeze worked with in his time in Oxford. Kelly and Bo Wallace both had successful careers with Ole Miss. However, there were only two years that Kelly actually spent with the Rebels.

He had an up and down career in college, starting at Clemson in 2013 and finishing up at Ole Miss in 2016. Kelly even spent some time at East Mississippi Community College in between his stints at Clemson and Ole Miss.

The 2016 campaign for Kelly and Rebels saw Ole Miss reach nearly the highest highs and the lowest lows. In Week 1 against the Florida State Seminoles, Ole Miss carried a 28-6 lead at one point. That game resulted in a 45-34 loss in one of the biggest leads blown by any team last season.

Just a few weeks later, Ole Miss lost another winnable game against Alabama. That would have been Ole Miss’s third consecutive year defeating the Tide, a feat looks nearly impossible against Nick Saban nowadays.

Kelly’s career stats in slightly less than two seasons with Ole Miss are nothing less than impressive. He notched 6,800 passing yards and 51 touchdowns. Kelly also added on another 15 touchdowns on the ground.
