Former Baylor transfer Devin Duvernay is the most talented wide receiver on the Texas offense. Receiver has been a position of need for the Texas Longhorns for almost five years now. They cannot seem to get consistent play out of their receivers very often. John Burt, Armanti Foreman, Collin Johnson, and Jerrod Heard, all return to hopefully bring more stability and consistency to the position.

When it comes down to it, Duvernay is the guy that will have to lead by example for the Horns. Duvernay and Foreman are the leading receivers returning for Texas. Yet neither receiver eclipsed the 500 yard receiving mark in 2016.

Last season, Duvernay caught 20 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns. The fact that he averaged more than 20 yards per catch is an encouraging sign. Sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele needs to develop a rapport with at least one of his targets to get himself more comfortable in the offense. Duvernay should be the No. 1 option for Buechele to look at.
