Texas Football: 5 best players on the 2017 roster
Junior offensive tackle Connor Williams might have the best chance of all Texas players to get drafted no. 1 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Williams and Malik Jefferson are both projected first round pick in next year’s draft. However, the All-American left tackle needs to prove himself for one more year at the college level to prove his worth to NFL scouts.
Williams was named a First-Team All American for the first time in his career in 2016. Very impressive for a sophomore. He’ll provide stability to an offensive line starting two sophomores this season including center Zach Shackelford and right tackle Denzel Okafor.
According to Walter Football, Williams projects as a first round pick, 14th overall, to the New York Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft. That same mock draft has Jefferson picked just two slots later. Expect a huge season from Williams to not only help his quarterback, Shane Buechele, get adjusted in his sophomore season, but to also prove himself for the next level.
