Running Back

Starting running back: Jordan Wilkins
Backups: Eric Swinney, D’Vaughn Pennamon, Eugene Brazley

A position which has been a struggle for Ole Miss throughout the Freeze era might see a change for once. With Matt Luke now as head coach, expect to see a renewed emphasis on running the ball. Which sets up well for the return of Jordan Wilkins, who had to sit out his junior year due to academics. Wilkins is a tough runner with some speed, the Rebels will be glad to have him back.

Backing him up will be Eric Swinney, coming back from an ACL injury suffered in the first game of the year. And D’Vaughn Pennamon, a bigger back who seemed to do well in the spring but is more suited for plays at the goal line.

Ole Miss has needed better play from its running backs for a long time and this might be the year. The backs are experienced and the offensive line is in good shape and pretty talented. Matt Luke should provide a better game plan on running the ball than Freeze did.
