EMCC Career

After Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs dismissed Chauncey Rivers from the program, he landed in Scooba, Mississippi. He was given a (last) chance to play for Buddy Stephens and the East Mississippi Community College Lions. Indirectly, Rivers also became a cast member of Season 2 of Last Chance U.

Rivers was part of a defensive line at Scooba that would hold three other future Power Five players. While, at EMCC he lead the Lions defense with eight sacks and he also added 45 tackles and one forced fumble.

Moreover, he and his mother also had one of the funnier moments of the show from Season 2. During one of the games, Chauncey’s mother was in the stands shouting that the defense had not watched film prior to the game.

To be perfectly honest, her complaints looked to be right because the defense looked awful. But Stephens did not like the criticism and tried to throw her out of the stands. Like many sons, Chauncey didn’t like that his mother was being thrown out. Chauncey came from the bench and ran to stop her from getting tossed out. She would end up watching the rest of the game from behind the field goal post.

Aside from football, Rivers and some of his teammates made a song on their downtime. The song title is “For My Momma” and the it’s played at the end of one of the episodes.
