2. Injuries, not poor play, cut his season short
Some people might be wondering why Isaiah Wright is playing football as West Georgia this season instead of at one of the major colleges that offered him at the start of his 2016 season with East Mississippi C.C.
Heck, I’m still trying to figure that out, but once the major colleges saw that his production had dipped, they likely told him that his offer was no longer committable. Sometimes at the JUCO ranks, even if you’re injured and still produced when you were healthy, colleges don’t wait around for your production to increase.
In Wright’s case, his injury caused him to miss a number of games and he even tried to play when he shouldn’t have, re-injuring his ankle and even suffering a concussion. He had a rough 2016 season, but the flashes of greatness were there.
When healthy, he’s one of the scariest offensive threats in the game. As millions witnessed in Season 2 of ‘Last Chance U’, Wright was never really given a fair chance after the injuries struck. Things turned with Buddy Stephens and he didn’t get to see the field much near the end of the year. Things would have been much different if he was to remain healthy.
Look at it this way, programs like Auburn, West Virginia, Iowa State and Indiana offered him scholarships for a reason. The talent is there.
