Very few head coaches in college football have as much pressure on their shoulders as LSU’s Ed Orgeron entering the 2017 campaign. He signed an extension with the Tigers to establish himself as the hopeful long-term answer in Baton Rouge.

Quarterback Danny Etling ultimately had a solid stat line in 2016. But LSU fans need more than just “solid” play out of their quarterback to reach their true potential with all the skill they have on both sides of the ball.

Etling threw 11 touchdowns and only five interceptions in 2016. Entering his senior season, he’ll need to throw for at least 20 touchdowns for LSU to compete with teams like Alabama and Auburn this season.

Don’t expect Orgeron to hold back with the decision to bench Etling if he does not perform well to start the season. Redshirt sophomore Justin McMillan is sure to be primed and ready for his opportunity to lead the LSU offense if and when he gets the chance to take the starting job from Etling.
