Deondre Francois began his freshman season with a bang. He torched the Ole Miss defense to the tune of 419 yards passing and two touchdowns in addition to 59 yards rushing. That began a solid first year campaign and a top 10 finish in the AP rankings for Florida State.

One of the best offensive players on an offense that scored more than 35 points per game, Francois will be relied upon again to contribute in both phases of the Seminole offense. Although they do lose Dalvin Cook, they add Cam Akers, a highly touted freshman ball carrier. The offense won’t miss a beat.

Florida State’s opening game of the 2017 season comes against the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide. Both teams figure to be ranked in the top 10, and both return talented sophomore quarterbacks. Francois might just be the difference maker that the Seminoles need to take down the Tide.

Mobility has been the name of the game when it comes to downing Nick Saban. From Chad Kelley to Johnny Manziel, its been the guys that can move around the pocket that have had the most success. Francois has some quickness. If he can take down Alabama, he’ll earn his spot among the best players in the game and vault Florida State into the early College Football Playoff conversation.
