4. Competition at the top of the SEC East

The SEC East does not have near as many good teams as the SEC West. Yet, there are five teams that all have a decent to good shot at actually winning the division. Don’t count out teams like Tennessee, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

While it will likely come down to Florida and Georgia, both teams actually lost to Tennessee last year. Moreover, the Vols have a top 25 ranked team once again with a head coach in Butch Jones that now knows how to defeat the Dawgs and Gators.

South Carolina finally starting putting it all back together under Jake Bentley and head coach Will Muschamp last season. The Gamecocks almost defeated a South Florida team led by quarterback Quinton Flowers and running back Marlon Mack that was among the best Group of Five teams in the country.

Vanderbilt has a quarterback in Kyle Shurmur that could be one of the breakout players in the SEC in 2017. And running back Ralph Webb is one of the best in the nation. Georgia already lost to Vandy last year and could not afford to do the same in 2017.
