Boise State Football: Two-deep 2017 depth chart projection
By Zach Bigalke
Offensive Line
Starting tackles: Archie Lewis (LT), Ezra Cleveland (RT)
Backups: Austin Dixon, Andres Preciado
Archie Lewis has seemingly been around forever. As the 2012 recruit enters his final season at Boise State, he brings valuable experience to Brett Rypien‘s blind side. Lewis has started 26 games for the Broncos at left tackle over the past three seasons and has the starting role locked down again. On the other end of the line, Ezra Cleveland looks to replace three-year starter Mario Yakoo at right tackle.
The pair will be called upon to cover the bulk of the snaps, as their backups have very limited experience. Austin Dixon redshirted last year and has yet to see the field in a college game. Andres Preciado has played in just four games over the past two years. Though he is moving to guard this year, John Molchon could also be called upon to take snaps at tackle should anything happen to Lewis or Cleveland.
Starting center: Mason Hampton
Backup: Andrew Tercek
Mason Hampton finally got to start at center for Boise State in 2016 after two years in a special teams and reserve role. Hampton featured in 11 games last year and looks to hold on to the starting role once again. Andrew Tercek, who was on the depth chart at left guard last year, is a versatile interior lineman and looks like the best bet to back up Hampton at center.
Starting guards: Garrett Larson (LG), John Molchon (RG)
Backups: Isiah Moore, Eric Quevedo
Both starting guards are gone from last season’s team. Starters Travis Averill and Steven Baggett were both redshirt seniors, and both have moved on to the NFL along with backup guard Kellen Buhr. John Molchon looks like he will take over Baggett’s spot on the right side, while Garrett Larson has the most experience among a limited crop of contenders to take over Averill’s spot on the left.
Others who could see playing time in the interior of the line include Tercek, who was the backup to Averill last season at left guard. Isiah Moore, who transferred from Mesa Community College, has a shot at challenging Larson for the spot on the left. Redshirt sophomore Eric Quevedo has yet to see the field despite being eligible last season.
