The Notre Dame Fighting Irish look to bounce back after a 4-8 season in 2016. Now, they add Mike Elko as their new defensive coordinator and Chip Long as their new offensive coordinator.

Elko joins the Notre Dame staff after spending three seasons with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Long spent one season as the offensive coordinator and tight ends coach with the Memphis Tigers in 2016.

Quarterback DeShone Kizer was spectacular last season. He threw for 2,925 passing yards and 26 passing touchdowns. He’s now a member of the Cleveland Browns in the NFL.

The Fighting Irish could be the target of some frustration left over from the previous week. A 10-win season is on the horizon for the Miami Hurricanes. With a pivotal Coastal win in their sights, a close loss to the Hokies should boost their confidence against Notre Dame.

The Hurricanes are a young team under Mark Richt’s second season as head coach. They most likely learned a lot from last season’s bitter loss to the Fighting Irish 30-27.

Surprisingly, Miami has lost the past four games to Notre Dame. This season, however, is when they snap the streak. Their schedule favors a strong finish. It starts with a victory on November 11.

Final: Notre Dame 24, Miami 34 (7-2)
