5. Ed Orgeron won’t pan out

The most concerning loss for LSU in 2016 was the 16-10 defeat at the hands of the Florida Gators. Orgeron looked to finally have LSU on the right path, only behind Alabama in terms of SEC placing, but a six-point loss to the Gators proved people that the Tigers weren’t quite ready for the big stage.

One thing people do have to consider is what LSU fans consider a disappointing season now. LSU fans would consider their team sub-par if the continue to rack up eight win seasons. Two of the last three seasons resulted in eight win seasons for the Tigers. More of the same could be on tap in 2017.

This would not be the first time that Orgeron did not last long at a big time program. He was let go from the USC football program after just a few games as interim head coach. That was not mainly because of Orgeron’s performance, but because the Trojans felt like there were better options to lead their program for the next few years.

With how fast LSU fans called for the firing of former head coach Les Miles, it could be a very short time before Orgeron is on the hot seat if the Tigers aren’t in the College Football Playoff picture.
