Defensive Line

Starting defensive ends: McTelvin Agim, T.J. Smith
Backups: Armon Watts, Briston Guidry

Arkansas lost a lot off of their defensive line from last season. Their solution? Switch to a 3-4 front and rely on a handful of blue-chippers to man the trenches. It could pay off this fall — sophomore McTelvin Agim has been a star in the offseason, and figures to be a menace to SEC quarterbacks this season. T.J. Smith is another sophomore who saw limited playing time as a freshman, and he’ll be pushed by promising freshman Bristol Guidry, who redshirted in 2016.

Starting defensive tackle: Bijhon Jackson
Backup: Austin Capps

In a 3-4 defense, it’s vitally important to have a big nose tackle who can clog up running lanes inside. Enter Bijhon Jackson! The 340-pound senior has waited his turn behind a number of promising upperclassmen on the defensive line, and he’s due for a breakout season after out-dueling sophomore Austin Capps for the starting role. Capps will still see quite a bit of playing time, though, and should improve handily on his 7.5 tackles from last season.
