Ole Miss Football: Game-by-game predictions for Rebels in 2017
This was the matchup that began the Shea Patterson era at Ole Miss in 2016. A game in which Patterson led the Rebels to a come from behind win in College Station, Texas in front of over 100,000 Aggie fans. Ever since Texas A&M joined the SEC, the matchup with Ole Miss has spawned numerous great games. None might have been better than that game last year.
With that said, Kevin Sumlin might need to win this game just to keep his job after this season. Even then it may not be enough, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt. Ole Miss and Texas A&M both put up big numbers on offense, although the contests between them have never really been that high scoring.
This should be another classic matchup between these two teams. In my opinion, probably reminiscent of last years matchup and the games in 2012 and 2013 when Johnny Manziel willed the Aggies to victories over the Rebels by himself (trust me, I was there).
Low scoring, tough ball games where one or two big plays make all the difference. Both teams need this game. For Ole Miss, it would be another SEC win to prove their mettle. For Texas A&M, a win could mean their coach sticks around, or who knows, maybe A&M will be making a run for the SEC Championship game this season. Either way, this game is important.
So, who comes out on top? This is one of the hardest games to pick for the Rebels, as both teams are so similar. And both teams have a history of playing each other very well. In the end, i’ll go with home field advantage and i’ll take the Rebels, but not by much.
