The first true test for Ole Miss comes on the road against the Cal Golden Bears. Cal is predicted to be a bottom feeder in a truly stacked Pac-12 North division. The likes of Washington, Stanford, Washington State and Oregon, are all seemingly primed for good seasons in 2017. Cal will have played at North Carolina and faced Weber State before facing Ole Miss.

Despite what experts think Cal’s team will be like in 2017, they present an uptick in talent for the Rebels. Going on the road is never easy, especially against a quality opponent. This should be a good game, although Ole Miss has an edge.

Ole Miss will be more experienced, particularly at quarterback. Cal gave up a lot of points in pretty much all of their games in 2016. That doesn’t bode well when going up against the type of offense Ole Miss presents. The Rebels have receivers for days, one of the best young quarterbacks in the nation and a stout offensive line. If Cal can’t get pressure, it’ll be a long day for the Golden Bears.

In no way do I think Ole Miss will run away with this game. Cal is able to put up points and is the first true ‘good’ offense Ole Miss will have faced in 2017. The Golden Bears also have home field advantage, which can never be discredited. Cal will be able to get some points on the opposing defense. In the end, I just don’t see the Cal defense stepping up and stopping the Rebel offense.

Final: Ole Miss 38, Cal 24 (3-0)
