2. Jake Browning leaves Washington after the season

A lot of Browning’s future lies with the result of the 2017 campaign. If he finishes the year on a high-note and has a chance to be an early round pick in the NFL Draft, he’ll probably leave. Yet, if he has a mediocre season statistically and falls just short of the Pac-12 Championship and College Football Playoff, he’ll probably return.

As a junior, this will be the first time Browning is eligible to declare for the NFL Draft. He does have NFL potential, but is not currently considered a first round pick. Yet, with a steady head coach in Chris Peterson, Browning could have two more chances at winning a National Championship.

Washington has a lot of young talent in place to be good for the next two or three seasons. Moreover, the return of junior running back Myles Gaskin for his senior season could help the decision of Browning to stay. Gaskin has been there every step of the way with Browning over the last two years.

The departure of Browning would devastate the Washington football program and likely put them in a rebuilding mode for 2018. We’ll see what happens come the 2018 offseason.
