ACC Football: Each team’s impact player if EA NCAA Football was still around
Which players would be selected as the ACC football teams’ impact players if EA’s NCAA Football ’18 came out this season?
For those of us still in mourning (ex. Kirk Herbstreit), EA’s NCAA Football would’ve come out with the 2018 edition (for the 2017 season) this July.
Back in the 2006 edition, the crew at EA Sports started the “impact players” feature which gave three players on each team the ability to make a big play when in crunch time. They were circled in white and the white dot would pulsate when they were ready to make a big play for their team.
Some of the ACC teams (looking at you Wake Forest) had a punter as an impact guy, but it seemed like a preponderance of defensive ends and QB’s. As time went on in the series, your impact player could change mid-season depending on production during the year.
The EA NCAA franchise gave us, the college football super fans, something to latch on to during the doldrums of summer, fall camp, and the long off-season after the title game and before Labor Day. Endless match-ups against my brother or friends, late dorm nights bored looking for an excuse not to study, or just wanting to do and know more about the game itself.
Heading into 2017, I’m going to select impact players from each ACC Football team and re-visit the ’06 selections. Some ACC teams will have one and some will have two but needless to say all are expected to have big seasons in 2017.
