Virginia Tech Hokies

2006 impact player: Jimmy Williams, CB #2, 96 overall
Today: WR Cam Phillips, LB Tremaine Edmunds

Virginia Tech has had a great defense since I can remember. Jimmy Williams was a lockdown corner for Bud Foster’s defense in the 2006 game. Williams ended his carer with nine interceptions and shutdown his side for Foster.

Virginia Tech lost Jerod Evans at quarterback. The JUCO transfer kept the Hokies alive in 2016. Redshirt freshman gunslinger Josh Jackson got the nod earlier this week and head coach Justin Fuente wants a guy that can run the ball and make big-time plays.

Jackson will have All-ACC preseason first-teamer Cam Phillips to throw to. He finished the 2016 season with 983 yards and five receiving touchdowns.

At linebacker, Edmunds would be the impact player. Edmunds ended with 94 tackles, 16.5 TFL, and 4.5 sacks in 2016. He’s a preseason All-ACC guy and I could see him in the 94 overall range per EA. EA loved hitters that could make plays in the backfield and that’s Tremaine.
