Grier had to sit out for the 2016 season since he transferred from Florida. He was suspended after a great start to his freshman season in 2015 when he tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. West Virginia landed Grier a few months after the conclusion of the 2015 season.

Skyler Howard took West Virginia to a new level in 2016. Grier is a more talented quarterback than Howard which is scary for opposing defenses. He was the only quarterback that’s been successful in the Florida offense over the last three years.

Expectations for Grier are already high but he’ll have some time to get adjusted to Holgorsen’s offensive scheme. Skilled position players like White and Crawford also make the transition easier for Grier.

If West Virginia reaches double-digit wins again, it’ll be thanks to Grier powering the offense. Throwing more than 30 touchdowns is something Grier can do.
