9. Can Lamar Jackson repeat as a Heisman Trophy winner?

Winning two Heismans in a row may be one of the most difficult things to do in all of college football. Think I’m lying? Well ask Jameis Winston, Johnny Manziel, Mark Ingram, Sam Bradf—you see a theme here? The latest underclassmen to win the sports most prestigious award is Louisville’s Lamar Jackson. In 2016 he was unreal but in 2017 he will need to do that again if he wants to make history.

In 2016, Jackson took the ACC by storm with over 1,500 yards on the ground and 3,500 in the air. It was clear that he was the right winner for the Heisman but now in the first of possibly two chances to make history, Jackson will have to battle a loaded field. One of his nearest competitors is located in the ACC and in the same Division as Jackson.

Florida State QB Deondre Francois really started to hit his stride near the end of the 2016 season and should remain in the race well into 2017. Francois joins a group of players who really garnered buzz in the 2016 season and now are seen as Heisman candidates going into 2017. Jake Browning and Sam Darnold will battle out west and then teammates Saquan Barkley and Trace McSorley will more than likely split out votes at Penn State.

While Lamar Jackson’s road to a second straight Heisman may be just as difficult as some of the others who’ve been in this situation before, don’t count out the Louisville signal-caller just yet.
