5. While 2016 was weird, 2017 could be even weirder

College football, unlike it’s pro counterpart, is very weird. It’s like the weird little brother who is lovable most of the time but you also have to take into account he may decide to burn the living room on a random fall Saturday. That is college football.

In 2016, the strange adventures of college football took shape in of course the most unusual of places. Out west you saw Christian McCaffery’s Heisman hopes fade early and Colorado ascend to the top of the Pac-12 South. Meanwhile, Washington announced their return back to the national stage with a run to the CFP Semifinals.

Tennessee came into 2016 with a lot of promise and hype but ended up back to square one but head coach Butch Jones views them as “Champions of life”. Whatever that means and then you have the shock of all shocks, Lamar Jackson winning the Heisman Trophy. Nothing against Lamar but did anybody see that coming? Especially when he wasn’t even on most betting boards when the season began.

So what does all of this mean? Well, if you think 2016 was strange then get ready for 2017 because it’s going to get weird and in a hurry. In the month of September, there will be 12 games where both teams are ranked. Take a look at the rankings now because by the start of October, things are going to look crazy.
