1. Wimbush has the talent

Is it so crazy to just come out and say Wimbush is more talented than Kizer? Maybe. But we are not far off by saying that. Wimbush has already been named to Yahoo! Sports’  Top 25 Quarterbacks to Watch in 2017, despite having played just two games in his career.

During his three years as a major player in high school, Wimbush put up 31 touchdowns to just four interceptions. He had 28 total touchdowns his senior year, throwing for nearly 1800 yards and rushing for just under 400.

He, like Kizer, is a perfect fit for Coach Kelly’s run-pass-option offense and his speed is what will separate him from other quarterbacks in the nation. As a former track and field runner, Wimbush posted an impressive 10.8 seconds in the 100 meter and 22 seconds in the 200 meter dash. While his passing game can always improve, there is no doubt that he will be a major factor in the running game immediately. An excerpt from SB Nation’s Austin Gallagher says it all:

"More important than his natural ability is Brandon Wimbush’s intangibles. This is a kid that has his head on straight. He’s not headstrong like Malik Zaire but he is confident; the stage isn’t too big for him like it was for Everett Golson, but he does respect the stage; he doesn’t psyche himself out when he doesn’t win like DeShone Kizer, he learns from it. On top of all that, however, is that he has shown to be a winner."

Wimbush will be the epitome of the Irish’s last three great quarterbacks and could be one of the nation’s best come the end of the year.
