2. Oregon State shows marked improvement

Its been since 2013 that Oregon State last played in a bowl game. They made marked improvement last season by going from 2-10 to 4-8 but they uphill battle is still present for the Beavers. Oregon State better not go into this game against CSU thinking they can win easily. A win won’t be easy to come by from the Rams. Colorado State has fared well against power five schools in the past and that probably won’t change when these two teams face each other in Fort Collins.

However, I would expect Oregon State to look like an improved team and be more than capable of winning this game. A win against CSU would go a long ways in helping them reach the six win threshold for bowl eligibility. Head coach Gary Anderson took over the program in 2014, but has found success hard to come by in his first couple seasons. 2017 is where he has to show improvement, in order to even keep his job. The first game of the season is an excellent time for the Beavers to set the tone and they’ll have an equally tough opponent in CSU to be able to prove that they can do better in a rugged Pac-12 conference.

Against what should be an improved defense for CSU, Oregon State will have to show that their offense has become more consistent from last season. OSU has a running game in Ryan Nall, which CSU will have to account for. Expect the Beavers to come out as a vastly improved team in this game. I’d be shocked if they didn’t have that look about them.
