3. Jake Luton should not be Oregon State’s starter

The Beavers went out on a limb with starting Jake Luton behind center. They lost Marcus McMaryion to transfer and Darell Garretson lost the quarterback battle to Luton.

It could be a turnover filled season for the Beaver offense Luton continues as the starter. His more than 300 passing yards and two touchdowns were completely overshadowed by his turnover laden performance. Oregon State even had a running game threat to keep Colorado State’s defense honest.

Anderson will shorten Luton’s leash if he does not improve his production. Oregon State does not rely much on the passing game. But they could be fighting from behind. Unfortunately for the Beavers they don’t have many options. If Luton can’t get it done a rough season could prove to be disastrous rather quickly.
