No. 4 – Deejay Dallas, Wide Receiver

DeeJay Dallas comes to Miami by way of Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Ga. Another 4-star prospect in this class, Dallas is a versatile athlete who primarily played quarterback in high school. He also saw action at running back, wide receiver, defensive back and on kick and punt returns

Right now Dallas is projected to be a slot receiver and is still learning the nuances of playing wide receiver at the college level. He has some experienced veterans such as Braxton Berrios to help him learn the ropes. Wide receivers coach Ron Dugans has had high praise for Dallas and likes what he has seen so far in camp.

"“DeeJay Dallas has gotten better since the spring,” Dugans said. “He’s progressed, he’s a better route runner now. He runs with a really good pad level, and he’s understanding the game now. I’ve got him in a few different positions. That’s why it goes back to teaching by concepts. Now he can learn, whether it’s a slot, a wide, a 3-by-1, a 2-by-2, so DeeJay’s doing a really good job. He’s made some contesting catches for us in some drills.”"

Miami has emerging star receiver Ahmmon Richards and Berrios at the top of the depth chart. They also brought in a lot of young talent at the position. Look for Dallas to get a shot at both punt and kick off returns in addition to kick coverage units. He is showing a lot of versatility and improving every day, if he continues to develop quickly he could emerge as a real impact player from the receiver spot and especially on special teams.
