Even with the loss of potential All-American linebacker Jack Cichy, the Wisconsin Badgers have one of the best defenses in the country. They also have the easiest path to the Big Ten Championship Game among all top 10 teams in the conference.

There’s four Big Ten teams ranked inside the top 10 of the Amway Coaches Poll and three in the top 10 of the AP Poll. The Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Penn State Nittany Lions are the other three teams that will compete for the Big Ten title.

Wisconsin’s biggest question mark and hurdle to ultimate success is quarterback. Sophomore QB Alex Hornibrook played well enough in 2016 to keep his starting job in 2017. He’ll have to improve his stat line from nine touchdowns and seven interceptions from a year ago.

Redshirt sophomore running back Bradrick Shaw could become a star in 2017. He’ll share carries with junior transfer Chris James. Yet, Shaw could be the next in line among great Wisconsin running backs like Melvin Gordon, Chris Clement, and P.J. Hill.
