Not many teams have more hype heading into 2017 than the USC Trojans. Sophomore quarterback Sam Darnold is also garnering No. 1 overall pick sort of excitement for the 2018 NFL Draft. A lot has to happen before USC can fulfill any level of high expectations in 2017.

Head coach Clay Helton has the program headed in the right direction. However, USC is one of those teams that seems to not be able to reach the level of hype each year since Pete Carroll left. Yet, something does feel different now and the Trojans did finish 2016 as one of the hottest teams in the country.

The Pac-12 is still Washington’s conference to lose at this point. Not only will Darnold have to beat the Huskies for the second consecutive year, running back Ronald Jones II needs to prove himself to be one of the best in the nation as well.

USC has everything in place to make a run at the National Championship in 2017. Just winning around 10 or 11 games would be considered a massive disappointment for the Trojans this season.
