Interestingly enough, the Alabama Crimson Tide have never won the National Championship when ranked preseason No. 1 in the AP Poll. However, this is a different looking Alabama team than even their best teams in year’s past. Sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts is a true Heisman contender, and no one would be surprised if he brings the award home to Tuscaloosa this year.

Running back Bo Scarborough is the next Tide rusher in line to become an Alabama great. Scarbrough possesses every quality necessary, aside from being extremely injury prone, to become extremely successful at the NFL level as well.

Alabama has defensive talents like safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and defensive lineman Da’Ron Payne and Da’Shawn Hand to be every bit as good as any defense in the country. Moreover, aside from Hurts and Scarbrough the Alabama offense has receiver Calvin Ridley, running back Damien Harris, and tight end Miller Forristall to pave the way.

The SEC West could be a huge challenge to win for Alabama again in 2017. Yet, they are the clear favorite. Watch out for the Auburn Tigers, LSU Tigers, Arkansas Razorbacks, and Mississippi State Bulldogs to give the Tide a tough test, though. The Ole Miss Rebels have also been a difficult win for Alabama in the last few seasons.
