Under the direction of second-year head coach Justin Fuente, it looks like the Virginia Tech Hokies finally have what it takes to reach the peak of ACC contention once again. They made it all the way to the ACC Championship Game against the Clemson Tigers, only to fall short by one possession.

Virginia Tech named freshman quarterback Josh Jackson as their starter behind center. Jackson is a former three-star recruit and seems like a good fit for Fuente’s offense. He’ll start in the backfield with junior running back Travon McMillian. Junior transfer A.J. Bush would start if Jackson does not pan out.

The Hokies kick off their season against the West Virginia Mountaineers in one of the better games of Week 1. We’ll see early how good Virginia Tech is after winning their division in 2016. The rest of Virginia Tech’s out of conference slate is very manageable with games against Delaware out of the FCS, East Carolina Pirates and Old Dominion Monarchs.
