Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, unlike Kmet, was held as a likely candidate for significant freshman playing time from the get-go. Much of this reasoning was based off the fluid defensive line dynamic, one that has grown even more jumbled after the injury to junior Daniel Cage.

Standing 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, Tagovailoa-Amosa has the versatility to play on the inside or outside of the line, although his natural position is tackle. Tagovailoa-Amosa came out of high school ranked in the top 20 at his respective position, and should use that tag as fuel to solidify himself in the defensive rotation.

As a part of one of Kelly’s best recruiting classes to date, Tagovailoa-Amosa figures to get a decent amount of playing time in order to help balance the dynamic of his 2017 class. The Hawaii-native doesn’t yet have a specific role carved out for him, but with the entire defensive line in flux, there’s little reason to believe he won’t manage to make something out of his playing time.

At this moment, Tagovailoa-Amosa is likely behind senior Jonathan Bonner and junior Jerry Tillery at the defensive tackle position. These are two experienced players, but Tillery is known for finding himself in Kelly’s doghouse. If Tagovailoa-Amosa can take advantage of this and get himself some playing time, it will be a great start toward a bright college career.
