2. Two quarterbacks will play for Tulsa

As of now, Tulsa has not named a starting quarterback. Coach Montgomery has stated that it will be closer to game day before he makes and announcement. The leading candidates are sophomore Chad President and redshirt freshman Luke Skipper. I expect both quarterbacks to get playing time on Thursday.

President was a highly-touted recruit coming out of Temple High School in Texas. Originally a Baylor commit to Art Briles, President flipped to Tulsa when Montgomery was named head coach. President was an electric athlete in high school and could add some mobility to the quarterback position that it lacked with Evans last year.

Skipper has similar size to President, but the question is which quarterback can stretch the field with his arm as well as his legs. President has mobility to keep defenses on their toes but we do not know about his arm strength. Skipper had a better spring game statistically throwing for 173 yards and two touchdowns.

Tulsa’s version of the Briles spread works best with a mobile quarterback who can also stretch the field through the air. Since a starter has not yet been named I think we will see both quarterbacks until one of them asserts himself.
