UCLA Football: 5 bold predictions for the Bruins in 2017
No. 1 – Josh Rosen is a top 10 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft
The NFL is starved for elite quarterback play. You might be able to suit up and at the very least hold a clip board on the sideline. In all seriousness though, Patrick Mahomes was a top 10 pick of the Kansas City Chiefs a year ago.
Three quarterbacks were selected in the first 12 picks of the 2017 NFL Draft. North Carolina gunslinger Mitchell Tribusky went No. 2 overall to the Chicago Bears and Deshaun Watson was taken by the Texans with pick No. 12.
Rosen is already in the conversation for the No. 1 overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft. He, Sam Darnold of USC and Josh Allen of Wyoming look to be the early leaders at the quarterback position for the upcoming draft class. Assuming those three passers manage to be halfway decent this year they will all be easy bets to be first round draft picks.
Even with a regression, teams like the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars all need a quarterback in the worst way. That makes the likely of Rosen being picked in the first round exponentially higher.
Next: Way too early 2018 NFL mock draft
Now, what if Rosen has the season that many are projecting him to have? If he can lead UCLA to a bowl game and rack up some nice passing statistics along the way his draft stock is only going to climb. Rosen is going to be a first round pick, the question is how high will he be taken? He’s going to be a top 10 pick, perhaps even No. 1 overall.
