2. Quarterback play

When two college football teams meet up and are somewhat equal, it is always wise to go with the quarterback you think is the better of the two. More likely than not the better quarterback finds a way to get the job done.

That is the “It” all of these NFL GMs and college football pundits talk about it. Both quarterbacks in this matchup, Bama’s Jalen Hurts and FSU’s Deondre Francois, have “It.”

Early this offseason at SEC Media Days, Saban talked about his quarterback and his play in 2016. To extent Saban said that he and the former offensive coordinator didn’t let Hurts explore the whole playbook last year.

This year Hurts will have the full playbook at his disposal, but he’ll have to utilize it with a new coordinator. Saban has brought in Brian Daboll from the NFL to run this year’s offensive attack.

As for the other quarterback, Francois was had the whole playbook at his disposal since last year and did very well. But this year he has a new left tackle and he is without first round pick Dalvin Cook.

Francois will have to find a way to stay off the ground in 2017. That offensive line will need to do better and Francois will have to get the ball out of his hand faster. Tight end Ryan Izzo will more than likely be one of his favorite targets throughout this game and the whole year.
