4. Tennessee Volunteers

vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (Atlanta), Sept. 4, 8:00 p.m. ET

The Tennessee Volunteers face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Monday, September 4 in Atlanta, Georgia. While many say the game is at a neutral site, it’s technically a home game for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

The Volunteers enter the 2017 season on some interesting footing. They’ll have a new starting quarterback this year and need to regroup at running back.

Quarterback Quinten Dormady will have his work cut out for him in his debut start. The good thing for him is he’s got a strong offensive line to protect him the season.

They should be ready to hit the ground running, literally, with their Triple Option attack. It doesn’t help running back Dedrick Mills was dismissed from the team, but Georgia Tech should still be okay.

The Volunteers return six starters on a defense that allowed 218.5 rushing yards per game in 2016 (104th in the FBS). Not a good sign considering they face a run-heavy team in the first game of the season.

They will be tested early by the Yellow Jackets offense and should be challenged by the defense as well. Volunteers wide receiver Jauan Jennings, one of the most dynamic receivers in the SEC, could have a big game but there’s not much experience behind him.
