Lamar Jackson’s long road to winning another Heisman starts against easier competition. Quarterback David Blough and the Purdue Boilermakers could scare some teams in the Big Ten, but they probably won’t be bowl eligible.

Head coach Bobby Petrino has the Louisville football program in good shape. Yet, their schedule really ramps up in Week 2 against the North Carolina Tar Heels and in Week 3 against Clemson. Louisville’s non-conference slate is scattered throughout the season.

Kent State is the second team that Louisville faces out of conference. Louisville does not face them until Sept. 23. An upset does not look likely in any of their out of conference matchups. Yet, Purdue has the best chance to do it.

The other team that the Cardinals face out of the ACC is Murray State out of the FCS. Jackson and the Cardinals do not have a rough road outside of the ACC in 2017.
